PSLV C-40 has successfully launched 31 satellites into orbit during its forty second flight.
The primary satellite onboard was a Cartosat-2 series satellite intended for remote sensing purposes. Operationally, the Cartosat-2 series satellite launched right now will perform similar activities like its 6 predecessors, capturing high resolution imagery using its panchromatic and multispectral cameras. These images will be used for cartographic applications, urban and rural applications, coastal land usage and regulation, utility management, road network monitoring, water distribution, change detection to bring out geographical and manmade features and various other land information system (LIS) and geographical information system (GIS) applications.
Apart from the primary satellite, there are also one microsatellite called Microsat and one nano satellite (INS-1C) from India. There are also 25 nano satellites from six countries viz., Canada, Finland, France, Republic of Korea, UK and USA onboard as co-passenger satellites. The complete details of these satellites are provided below.
